I take an integrative approach to helping by drawing from different treatment interventions to match each client's age, personality and current challenges. For some problems, there are specific, empirically-validated treatments shown by research to be effective. When appropriate, I believe it is best to draw upon these approaches to maximize the therapeutic benefit of psychotherapy.
My treatment approaches include:
- Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), certified by PCIT International
- Behavior Modification
- Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
- Cognitive Behavior Play Therapy (CBPT)
- Interpersonal Psychotherapy
- Play Therapy
I specialize in helping to address challenges associated with:
- Adoption (helping children learn about their special place in their family and guiding parents on when and how to talk with children about being adopted)
- Aggression
- Anxiety (including selective mutism, generalized anxiety, OCD, social anxiety and phobias)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Coping with chronic illness and/or painful medical procedures
